In the completely bonkers ’80s Christmas horror ELVES, the lead girl Kristen appears to have a miserable home life; her mother murders her cat, her grandfather is a reformed Nazi, and her bratty brother can be a little creep sometimes. Working at the local department store snack counter doesn’t pay, so her holiday outfit budget is low. She uses her fashion sense to put together a budget-friendly ensemble for her Christmas Eve family gathering that is casual and festive; a snow-white top and yoke skirt are both jazzed up by pairing them with a satiny gold jacquard vest that has been decorated with brooches and pins. The outfit’s showpiece is the stretch gold-toned beaded bauble bracelet around her wrist; it’s a fun accessory that I love in a it’s-so-hideous-it’s-hot kind of way!
