The scene: the Upper East Side apartment of Patrick Bateman’s girlfriend, Evelyn Williams. Evelyn’s “Merry Xmas” party.  The dress: Strapless, emerald green, made from lustrous silk-satin, balloon skirt. Visible only through short glimpses and a fuzzy distant silhouette (why, Mary Harron?).

Here’s an aughts-era Jessica McClintock for Gunne Sax dress that has a similar look in black.

It’s the little details of Evelyn’s outfit that I can appreciate; the bias pleats on her dress bodice, her black satin opera gloves, and her dainty diamond bow earrings.
