The mask was designed by Bryan Christensen -who has worked on mask designs for FREAKY, THEY/THEM, and TOTALLY KILLER- and Tony Gardner, whose make-up effects credits include ZOMBIELAND DOUBLE TAP, HOCUS POCUS, and THE BLOB. The full-head design features a textured appearance that looks like weathered flesh sewn together. Leather cross-stitching runs from the top of its forehead to the back of the skull. A heart-shaped cut-out outlines the face, while a ghoulish dark smile is smeared with red.

The Heart Eyes Killer mask features a unique feature: it can see in the dark using an infrared mode, which I imagine is made possible by a device mounted inside the mask. However, I wonder how the Heart Eyes Killer manages to target and attack betrothed lovers while those glowing red lights shine directly into their eyeballs. It seems like that would be quite challenging.
While slasher horror fans may be divided over HEART EYES, it’s safe to say it’s a hit, having received mostly positive reviews. In addition to being very creepy, the killer’s mask has thus far inspired a cool 3D mask-printing video from 3D Printed Props, that showcases the design.
It’s a fantastic look, so I’m giving the Heart Eyes Killer mask a rating of 5 out of 5 hearts.
