SCREAM 1996 and Gale Weather’s Neon Green Versace Suit

SCREAM 1996 Gale Weathers is my favorite version of her sensationalist character. Not to mention, my fave look of hers is from the first Scream installment: the beautifully tailored, vibrant green Versace suit, reminiscent of the double-breasted Medusa jacket worn by Carla Bruni at the Versace 1995 Spring/Summer Ready-To-Wear fashion show. In later Scream films, Gale’s style ranged from mainstream mall fashion to a more conservative look under the direction of various costume designers. For SCREAM 1996, costume designer Cynthia Bergstrom and actress Courteney Cox collaborated to give Gale Weathers her frosted highlights, bold makeup, and ‘haute couture’ styling.

Gale’s single-breasted chartreuse jacket features a strong shoulder silhouette and a lovely nipped waist. The front is adorned with a row of Versace’s signature round silver buttons and accented by two rows of mini hook-and-button closures. The back is also decorated with a row of metal buttons. A sexy little button-front mini skirt completes the outfit.

While her other ensemble in the movie -a red Moschino jacket and plaid skirt combo, which is later topped with a belted brown leather jacket- is also a hot, high-fashion look, her Versace skirt suit is the classic Gale Weathers look from Scream 1996.
